Walking & Running

Move your body, clear your mind.

Our bodies were built to walk and run. While we may not match other animals for speed, we more than make up for it in endurance, and those evolutionary advantages still serve us today. In contrast, the modern sedentary lifestyle is doing us no favours. But swapping one high-carbon trip a week for a walk or run can have a huge impact on your wellbeing.

There can be huge health benefits from active commuting. A recent long-term Scottish study found walking was associated with a significant decrease in all-cause mortality risk. Imagine if a drug company came up with a pill that would do that!
